| In reflecting the harsh conditions of physical laborers under the modern industrial civilization, poets and experts turn their attention upon the psychological world of the laborers. James Wrights “Autumn begins in Martins Ferry, Ohio” describes the laborers depressed state: in facing the domestic obligation, they are embarrassed; in thinking of lifelong dreams, they can only recall the boyhood dreams from their offspring. Through delving into American economic condition, the laborers psychological state, and their depressed heroism, the paper discloses the essence of the distressed social situations. |
