Madness becomes a political symbol in the literature of 1950s and 1960s. The connotation of madness in the 20th century has changed from the chaos to salvation. Kurt Vonnegut’s experience in World War II made him produce many madmen of schizophrenia and multiple personality madmen in Slaughterhouse-Five or The Children’s Crusade and Mother Night.Despite the different shapes they function as the antiheroes against wars. |
