AimTo study the correlation between body mass index (BMI), physical exercise and sleep condition within 6 months after delivery and analyze influencing factors for postnatal depression. MethodsA total of 106 women were followed up to 6 months after delivery. The status of depression was evaluated by the Edinburgh postnatal depression scale (EPDS). Maternal BMI, physical activity rating scale (PARS) scores and Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) scores were recorded. The influencing factors for postnatal depression were analyzed by Logistic regression method. ResultsThe incidence of postnatal depression among 106 gravidas was 28.30%. There were statistically significant differences in husband-wife relationship and neonatal health status (P<0.05). There were statistically significant differences in BMI, the amount of small physical exercise, medium physical exercise and large physical exercise, the total score of physical exercise and the scores for sleep quality, time to fall asleep, sleep efficiency, sleep disorders, hypnotics, daytime dysfunction and total score (P<0.05). Postpartum BMI, physical exercise and sleep disorders were influencing factors of postnatal depression (P<0.05). ConclusionBMI changes, physical exercise and sleep condition within 6 months after delivery were related to the occurrence of postnatal depression. Clinically, attention should be paid to it and appropriate intervention should be carried out to prevent and reduce the occurrence of postnatal depression.
