| 《淮南子》在西方译介已有一百四十余年,可是英语全译本目前只有两种,即马译本和翟译本。无论是从发行量还是知名度来看马译本均更胜一筹,但其不应是否定其它译本的决定性要素。有鉴于此,本文将文本分析和审美研究结合起来对两种全译本进行分析,进而发现马译本要更加适合对中国文化感兴趣却几乎没有中文背景的读者,而翟译本则适合有一定中国文化背景的读者。随着社会文化的发展,读者文化审美意识逐步提升,对于更加贴合原典籍精神思想和风格之译介作品的需求会大大提升,但这并不意味着中华典籍的外译无需主动出击,相反国内学者尤其是译者需要更加细致地分析目的语国家译者的翻译特色和读者需求,从而将文化主动权牢牢掌握在自己手中。 |

| The Huainanzi has been translated and introduced in the West for more than a hundred and forty years, but there are only two complete English translations, namely Ma’s translation and Zhai’s translation. However, Ma’s translation is superior to Zhai’s translation in terms of circulation and popularity, but this is not a decisive factor for denying other translations. Based on the above, this paper combines text analysis and aesthetic research to analyze the two complete translations, and then finds that Ma’s translation seems to be more suitable for foreigners who are interested in Chinese culture but have little Chinese background, while Zhai’s translation is more suitable for readers who have some Chinese cultural background. With the development of social culture and the improvement of the readers’ cultural aesthetic consciousness, the demand for translated works that are more in line with the spirit and style of the original classics will greatly increase, but this does not mean that the foreign translation of Chinese classics does not need to take the initiative. On the contrary, the scholars and translators from China should analyze the translation characteristics and reader needs of the target language country more carefully, and firmly grasp the cultural initiative in our own hands. |
