| This study, based on reader reviews on Goodreads, comprehensively explores the overseas acceptance of the English translation of The Analects by James Legge through sentiment analysis facilitated by Python's TextBlob library and the topic analysis leveraging the LDA model, with the aim of providing valuable references for the overseas dissemination of Chinese classics. The study finds that positive reviews mainly focus on the discussion of Confucian wisdom and the ideas in The Analects; while negative reviews tend to criticize the content, form, and modern applicability of the book. Additionally, the extensive annotations in this translation facilitate readers' comprehension of the text, but the literary form of The Analects and certain translation quality issues pose certain challenges to overseas readers. Based on these findings, in the endeavor to promote Chinese classics internationally, it is imperative to accurately interpret cultural connotations and provide detailed annotations.
