| 《淮南子》在西方译介已有一百四十余年,可是英语全译本目前只有两种,即马译本和翟译本。文章对两种英文全译本进行了深入比较分析,研究的重点集中在两种译本在语言风格、文化内涵和思想表达方面的差异,以及审美翻译中主体因素、对象因素和方法因素的运用。分析结果表明,马译本在语言上更加流畅,适合对中国文化了解较少的外国读者,而翟译本则在文化和思想表达上更为深入和贴近,更适合对中国文化有一定了解的读者。此外,文章基于审美翻译在传达原著精神和风格方面的应用,进一步明确翻译工作不仅要忠实于原文,而且要符合目标语读者的审美需求。文章尝试为《淮南子》及其他中国古典文学作品英文翻译的实践提供一些参考和启示,希望能对将中国文化传递给具有不同文化背景的国际读者做出一点贡献。 |

| i>The Huainanzi a significant Chinese classical text, has been introduced to the Western world for over 140 years, but currently, there are only two complete English translations available:Ma's version and Zhai's version. This paper conducts a detailed comparative analysis of these two translations, focusing on differences in language style, cultural content, and ideological expression, as well as the application of subject factor, object factor, method factor in aesthetic translation. The study finds that Ma's version is more fluent and accessible to foreign readers with limited knowledge of Chinese culture, whereas Zhai's version is deeper in cultural and ideological expressions, making it more suitable for readers familiar with Chinese culture. The paper, based on the application of aesthetic translation to conveying the spirit and style of the original text, further addresses the need to balance fidelity to the source text with meeting the aesthetic needs of the target audience. This research aims to offer insights and guidance for the translation of The Huainanzi and other Chinese classical literature, hoping to facilitate the dissemination of Chinese culture to international readers from diverse cultural backgrounds. |
