| This study takes the reader reviews on the English translation of The Analects by James Legge on Goodreads as the research object, utilizes the TextBlob library within Python to conduct sentiment analysis of the reader reviews, and employs the LDA (Latent Dirichlet Allocation) model for topic analysis, aiming to reveal the overseas acceptance of this translation. The study found that positive reviews mainly focus on the discussion of Confucian wisdom and the ideas in The Analects; while negative reviews tend to criticize the content, form, and modern applicability of the book. Additionally, the rich annotations in this translation help readers understand the textual content, but the Chinese textual characteristics of The Analects pose certain challenges for readers. Based on these findings, in the process of promoting Chinese classics to the international arena, it is necessary to accurately interpret cultural connotations and provide detailed annotations, while paying attention to meeting the needs of diverse audiences, and continuously collecting and analyzing reader feedback to optimize communication strategies. |
