| The Recording of Geography, compiled during the Southern Song Dynasty, was the first comprehensive geographical work to establish a section dedicated to poetry, a pioneering effort that deserves recognition. The selection of poems ranges from those by lesser-known figures like Guo Shou to the renowned late Tang poet Luo Yin, spanning a total of twelve individuals. It encompasses twenty poems, mostly comprising excerpts from ancient-style poems or couplets from regulated verse, with only a few being quatrains. To enrich the reader's experience, the compiler has spared no effort in supplementing the complete poems and, upon comparing them with other texts, has meticulously provided judgments on variant readings and phrases, advocating for the adoption of the longer version where discrepancies are found. |
