| Wu Yun Lun reflects Zou Hanxun’s phonology achievement. In this book, he proposed a system of 20 consonants in ancient chinese. In this system, there is a judgment that Yu should be merged into Xia. Guided by thought of initial evoluti,Zou Hanxun had come to the conclusion by analysing the first character representing the initial consonant of Fanqie in Guangyun and used alliteration in the Book of Songs, phonetic radical, sound gloss, dialect and other materials as evidence.Although it could not distinguish between Yusan and Yusi due to his dialect, but his judgment that Yu Should be merged into Xia is the pioneer of theory that Yusan should be merged into Xia proposed by Zeng Yunqian.Therefore, his pioneering contribution would be indelible in the history of archaic Chinese phonology consonant research. |
