| Linguistic Adaptation Theory places adaptability at the core of pragmatics and the concept of adaptability, with variability and negotiability, has ontological implications in the study of language use. In a sense, variability is the representation of language uses generation; negotiability is the symbol of language uses indeterminacy and adaptability is the essential core of language use. The ontological implications of Linguistic Adaptation Theory are manifested in three aspects: How languages contributions to human beings life and survival could be possible;How adaptability could be possible;How meaning generation could be possible. |
