| The successful employment of irony makes Pride and Prejudice one of the most popular novels in the world. Based on Speech Act Theory，this paper systematically analyzes the irony in Pride and Prejudice from the macro and micro levels, and proves that the general linguistic theories are feasible to be used in the analysis of literary works. |
