      从晚清至20世纪30年代初,商务印书馆一直是我国文化出版事业的重镇。在商务印书馆的定期刊物中,《东方杂志》具有广泛的社会影响。1932年1月28日晚,商务印书馆因遭受日本飞机的轰炸,损失重大,《东方杂志》也被迫停刊。1932年8月1日,随着商务印书馆上海总馆正式复业,停刊8个多月后《东方杂志》复刊。复刊后的《东方杂志》以追求“新生”为办刊旨趣,注重与读者及作者的沟通,并且通过主编及编辑人员的调整和“教育”、“妇女与家庭”与“文艺”三专栏的增设,及时整合了刊物办刊资源,使刊物顺利度过了危机。
English Summary:
      Since the late Qing Dynasty to the early 1930s, The Commercial Press had been an important publishing house in China’s cultural publishing. Among its regular publications, the Oriental Magazine has a broad impact on society. The Commercial Press was bombed by the Japanese planes on the evening of January 28, 1932, which caused huge losses, and The Oriental Magazine thus was forced to cease publication. On August 1, 1932, as the headquarter of The Commercial Press in Shanghai resumed business, The Oriental Magazine resumed publication after being suspended for more than 8 months. The Oriental Magazine then pursued “rebirth” as its aim for running the business, focusing on the communication between readers and authors, and by means of restructuring editor and editorial staff, and opening three additional columns“Education”, “Women and Family”, and “Literature and Art”,it timely integrated resources of publication, which helped the magazine to survive the crisis.
