| The quilting image is not only a universal language of modern femal writers, but also a metaphor of feminist aesthetics. In Alias Grace, the quilting theme spreads throughout the whole novel. The quilting functions as a feminist discourse to endow Grace with sound and creates a female space where Grace collects the life fragments and achieves the spiritual awakening and a feeling of wholeness. |
