| From the perspective of relevance- theory, the authors has made some tentative explorations of the loss of cultural default in the course of translation of English and Chinese names, and summarized factors causing the default. The authors have proposed that cultural default should be compensated and the strategies to compensate should be flexibly chosen to find the optimal relevance, convey the intention of the source language, and make target language readers fully understand the alien customs and cultural connotations. |
