| The Wings of The Dove is one of Henry James’s best works created in his later stage. James portrayed a multi-character image—Milly Theale in the novel.Though threatened by impending death, Milly longs for freedom. Puzzeled by the loss of her personal identity in the quest of freedom,Milly isolates herself from society.Due to her thirst for love,she chooses self-deception. Her forgiveness and generosity shamed those who deceive her. Her spiritual beauty impresses every reader with everlasting charm. This paper is an attempt to explore the charm of Milly’s character with the method of close reading of the novel. |
