| Guided by Brown and Levinson’s Face Theory and based on the studies on self-repair in conversation both at home and abroad, this paper probes into the influence of the invisible factor---face on self-repair in conversation from a social linguistic perspective. Typical examples are provided to analyze the four types of self-repair: information repair, appropriateness repair, error repair and rephrasing repair. |
