| Translatability and un-translatability refer to the extent to which a translation is close to the original text, rather than the possibility to translate a certain text. Translatability and un-translatability, as the result of the language functions, co-exist in the same text. Any text as a whole is translatable while there are parts untranslatable. It is the translatability that makes it possible to translate a text and the un-translatability that makes it necessary to translate a text. |
